Farmers, shopkeepers, and businessmen were slaughtered in a bloody decade of bombings and shootings in the North Irish counties of Tyrone and Armagh in the 1970s. For years there were claims that loyalists were helped and guided by members of the RUC and Ulster Defence Regiment. But, until now, there was no proof. Drawing on 15 years of research, and using forensic and ballistic information never before published, this book includes official documents showing that the highest in the land knew of the collusion, and names those whose fingers were on the triggers and detonators. It draws on previously unpublished reports written by the PSNI's own Historical Enquiries Team. It also includes heartbreaking interviews with the bereaved families whose lives were shattered by this cold and calculated campaign.

Read this book!
By Peadar
I found this book very hard to get through, and in saying that I read it in a day. It is extremely well written, and the amount of research that went into this book is just phenomenal. The huge list of references demonstrates this.
The conclusion alone is quite fantastic. I'm delighted a book has finally highlighted the Irish Government's failings after the Dublin and Monaghan bombings. No national day of mourning, no monument for something like 30 years, no follow up with the British Government when they told the Irish garda they knew who carried out the attack. The Irish were too afraid to ruffle the feathers and did not wish to pursue it.
This book tells a fascinating story of collusion, a story everyone has known for a long time, but now we have it in writing with indisputable evidence.
The British Government have a lot of answering to do, and a lot of apologies to make if they wish power sharing to work.

An important read for anyone with an interest in the Irish political scene
By CĂșlbaire
This book is a detailed account of collusion in Ireland between the British Forces and Loyalist Paramilitaries that cost many innocent people their lives. This is a slow read but its content is very detailed and revealing. The author has taken a long time to put the publication together and deserves credit for her attention to detail in her work. The fall out from the book is significant and leaves important questions unanswered not alone over the British side but also over the authorities in Dublin. I would recommend this book to anyone who takes an interest in Irish politics or the conflict in Ireland over that particular period.

Very informative
By Jack
Shows how a Government can go to great lengths to cover up its assault on its people. Its a typical British method of brutal suppression of descent.
